Meet Our Team
Dr. Jess Bruin
Dr. Jess Bruin is a second generation chiropractor. Being raised in the practice she has been exposed to and then treated a wide variety of patients and conditions from babies to the elderly, resolving everything from headaches to heartburn, digestion to fatigue, earaches to breech babies and nearly everything in between. She adapts both her technique and the amount of force used per the individual patient needs (i.e. newborn baby versus heavy weight boxer)
Dr. Jess has always had a passion for travel and exploring new cultures, as such she has travelled the world working as a chiropractor. Amongst her highlights are Bermuda, working in a pediatric and sports injury practice within a multidisciplinary group, and the Netherlands, where she met her husband Tom.
Dr. Jess looks forward to sharing her experiences gained in working with many other doctors and patients from around the world with her local hometown community of Bloomington-Normal.
Dr. Matt Mangold
Since I was young I knew I wanted to help make a difference in the lives of others. I experienced the magic of chiropractic care when I was 17. I woke up one day with severe neck and back pain. After trying a variety of different approaches, it was finally a chiropractor who was able to relieve my pain. Immediately I knew what I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing.
I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in psychology. I then earned my Doctor of Chiropractic from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois in 2014. I have since traveled the country with my amazing wife, Lisa, and our two cats, Apollo and Linus. We have had amazing experiences visiting both large cities and small towns, hiking in the mountains, exploring historical sites, trying new food and meeting great people. However, we are excited to finally get back to Illinois and to be able to call this beautiful city of Bloomington our home.
What drew me to Eastland Chiropractic and Lifestyle Center is the integration of massage therapy, Reiki energy healing, and the wealth of nutritional knowledge and services at Nourish next
Chris Hoelscher's first chiropractic experience was as a patient. While an undergraduate at the University of Illinois, he was involved in a motorcycle accident. The experience left him with a serious back injury.
After undergoing a number of unsuccessful treatments by the medical profession, he was told that he would "have to learn to live with the pain." As a last resort, Chris went to a chiropractor.
Following his first treatment, he got RESULTS!
CCO & Chief Cultural Officer
Deb’s involvement with Eastland Chiropractic & Lifestyle Center started on day one. Since the doors opened in 1984 she has understood that serving patients comes first.
She has successfully instilled this approach to patient care to the teams and associate doctors she has trained over the years. Her main objective is to ensure that each patient’s experience at Eastland Chiropractic & Lifestyle Center is a positive one.
I walked into Eastland Chiropractic and Wellness Center as a new patient about a year ago and fell in love with the atmosphere of the office. Before long, coming to Eastland became one of the best parts of my day. Two weeks went by and I asked Tom when I could start working at Eastland. He and Larum looked at each other, then me, and we had a little laugh; but I was actually serious!
I was never able to shake the idea of serving at Eastland. I have a background in Special Education and have worked as a server and bartender since I graduated high school. I am passionate about serving others in this capacity and making them feel valued and welcomed.
Leaving my position in education was tough because I love working with the students. However, I feel lucky to be able to work with children not as students, but as patients. Transitioning to Eastland at this time has been such a blessing in my life.
Earlier this year, I committed to pursuing a career in massage therapy. Massage has been a constant in my life even before I started grade school. Naturally, my mom was my first client. While she was pregnant with my little sister I started rubbing her swollen feet before bed. I loved to play with her lotions, and it felt good to know that I made her feel better. This love has evolved into a deep appreciation for the power of touch to relax, rehabilitate, and heal.
The opportunity to join Eastland has felt like such a gift. I am so excited to get to know you all and to be a part of your journey to wellness.
Patient Concierge and Accounts Manager
I am ecstatic to be a part of the Eastland Chiropractic team! I have spent the last eight years working in the service industry. I have worked in nursing homes, as job coach for individuals with disabilities, a bartender, and an assistant manager. Through these jobs, I have met a wide variety of people and was able to help them, even in a small way, which is what kept me coming to work.
I was drawn to Eastland because of the way the practice is structures. I loved the energy the team exuded, but also the organization and cohesion that the team had. For me, it’s destiny at play that I am now in an environment that is focused on alignment. Alignment of the mind, body, and soul is a huge passion of mine and how I try to live my life.
My baby girl, Kenlee Faye, is the center of my world. Kenlee’s dad, Josh, is a close second. We love taking quick weekend trips and I can’t wait until Kenlee is old enough to visit the Children’s Museum in Indianapolis. Though weekend trips are fun, we love hanging out at home as a family. We have three rescues pets. Wilson(my rep-child) is a four-foot Ball Python, whom has been in my life for the last seven years. You may raise your brows, but he is extremely loveable and grateful to be a part of our family after facing abuse and neglect for the first stage of his life. I also have two cats, Benny and Minnie.
In what little spare time I have, I enjoy crocheting, reading, yoga and I hope to get back into running. I am so happy to be at Eastland and am honored to be a part of your healing journey.
