Like many doctors of chiropractic, Dr. Chris Hoelscher's first chiropractic experience was as a patient. While an undergraduate at the University of Illinois, he was involved in a motorcycle accident, which left him with a serious back injury. After undergoing a number of unsuccessful treatments by the medical profession, he was told that he would “have to learn to live with the pain." As a last resort, Dr. Hoelscher went to a chiropractor.
Following his first treatment, he got RESULTS! Shortly after he was successfully treated for his back injury by a chiropractor, Dr. Hoelscher enrolled at Logan Chiropractic College in Chesterfield, Missouri. Upon graduation in 1984, Dr. Hoelscher, his wife, Debi, and their daughter, Jessica, moved to Bloomington where he began his first practice in October. After nearly twenty-four years in practice, he has treated over 10,000 patients with a variety of health concerns. Dr. Hoelscher welcomes all new patients; however, he thrives on the more challenging cases where no one else has been able to help. With his expertise.... our patients get RESULTS!
In their effort to deliver quality chiropractic care to as many patients as possible, Dr. Hoelscher and his wife, Debra, have helped to establish clinics in the following Illinois communities: Pontiac (Livingston County Chiropractic Clinic), Morton (Heartland Chiropractic Clinic), Morris (Twin Oaks Chiropractic Clinic), and most recently, Mahomet (Mahomet Chiropractic and Wellness Center). "We decided early on that if we were to deliver the best chiropractic care possible, we would only use the most advanced equipment and train our staff to perform their duties with the highest level of professionalism. We will not compromise when it comes to our patients. If we can help, we will tell you - if we can't - we'll find someone who can." Our primary goal is to educate our patients so they can make an informed decision regarding their healthcare.
Dr Stephen Gagliano of St. Peters, Missouri, joins
the Eastland Chiropractic and Wellness Center team bringing with him 17
years of extensive practice in the overall field of chiropractic. Dr
Steve is a graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic, where he also
received his certificate in upper cervical care.
In his youth Dr Steve was a active athlete involved in football, boxing , and wrestling. He had hoped that his future would be a career in pro football but with each sports related injury the hopes diminished into more of just a dream. But one thing that did stand out in Dr Steves mind was the pain relief and the healing that he received from all of the chiropractic care that he received as a result of all of those injuries. Pain relief and healing without drugs or narcotics. and he came out of all of it with a positive state of mind. Thats when he realized what his true passion for life had become, he might not be able to be the athlete that he wanted to be, but he could help other athletes and other individuals be the best they could be with the help of chiropractic care. And thats exactly what Dr. Steve has done for the last 17 years. He has helped others be the best they can be without the use of addictive pain medications or narcotics.
Dr Steve has a strong commitment to family. He and his wife Nicole have been happily married for 17 years. They have 3 children Bailey, Caiden, and Sydney. Bailey is on the swim team and it looks like Caiden will be following in his fathers footsteps soon with a love for wrestling! For Sydney the world is still a open book filled with great adventure! Dr Steve's wife , Nicole, is a MRI Technician and enjoys her work in the medical field too.
We are blessed to have the Gagliano family as part of the Eastland team! Please join us in welcoming them to our community. Dr Steve is looking forward to serving the residents of McLean county and partnering with them to assist them in reaching their health and wellness goals.

We are excited to announce that Dr. Jessica Hoelscher has joined the staff here at Eastland! Dr. Jess has had a lifelong relationship with chiropractic, beginning the very day she was born. At the time her father, Dr. Chris Hoelscher, was completing his education at Logan College, and had no idea that 28 years later he would be escorting his own daughter, at her own graduation, from his Alma Mater. From an early age it was clear Dr. Jess had a desire to serve, never shy from offering her opinion or sticking up for those who couldn’t stick up for themselves. Shortly after her fathers graduation the Hoelscher family moved to Bloomington, IL where they have resided for almost 30 years. Dr. Jess saw the hard work, dedication and love her parents had for the Bloomington-Normal community and was often seen in the office as a child filing charts and occasionally worked as a receptionist on weekends and holidays. Her family decided it was good to experience other jobs and this began a host of various jobs from working on farms, to calligraphy, to assisting a disabled man. Life was never dull for the girl who couldn’t keep still! Thankfully back then being full of energy and the never ending curiosity of a child was normal and there were no disorders yet created, to classify and control these traits. Dr. Jess was raised to dance to her own drummer!
Dr. Jess moved to Chicago and began working a variety of jobs including a position as an assistant to a high ranking nephrologist (kidney specialist) at Northwestern Hospital and as an executive assistant to a very successful financial advisor (who also became a mentor to her and continues to be so still). The latter position was much more than policy quotes and premiums. It was here that she was exposed to the “law of attraction” also known as “what you think about, you bring about”. At the time she was applying for medical schools, as she felt she could then be a full-service physician. However, after much thought and research she discovered that iatrogenic (doctor caused) diseases were the third largest cause of death and found validity in the numerous reports of decreased death rates when doctors went on strike. She recognized the importance of medical care, and always will, but did not wish to take a chance with someone’s life. Less than two months later Dr. Jess arrived at Logan College in St. Louis, MO to begin her chiropractic education. Although this time brought many memories, new and old, there is one that stands out every time she meets a patient. Preparing for final exams at home, a pen rolled off the desk, she bent down to pick it up. Nothing out of the ordinary. Without warning she could not sit back up. She was struck with excrutiating pain and unable to do anything but call a friend for help. They loaded her up in the car and went to see the only doctor open. She was given prescription upon prescriptions, which only marginally improved the pain for a couple hours at a time. After a few days of being bedridden a chiropractor was located who agreed to evaluate her. After three treatments she was able to withstand the pain of sitting upright. Within a few weeks she was “good as new”. It was one thing to hear in class that most disc herniations occur with little, to no weight lifted or exertion-it was a whole different matter to experience this first hand! Being a bit of a thrill seeker, Dr. Jess has had a handful of other experiences, which have given her firsthand insight into what her patients are feeling and the impact health problems can have on one’s life and loved ones. She is grateful that her upbringing showed her the alternatives to drugs and surgery. Dr. Jess was taught that these aren’t “bad” options, but are life-changing and therefore should be used as a last resort. Dr. Jess toured a number of chiropractic offices around the country. She ultimately decided to return to her hometown, her family practice, and the patients who have forever been the focal point and purpose of her family’s life.
