Meet The Staff....

DEBI - Debi’s involvement with Eastland Chiropractic & Wellness Center started on day one.  Since the doors opened in 1984, she has always understood that serving patients comes first!  This attitude is reflected in the staff that she trains to assist patients and the doctors.  Making sure that each patient’s experience at Eastland Chiropractic & Wellness Center is a positive one is of utmost importance to her.  Helping people achieve their health and wellness goals is a priority with her.   It has always been a dream of hers to provide the community with a wellness center that would offer a wide variety of services.  That dream came true when the clinic relocated to 2406 E. Washington St. in November of 2007.  Debi has been instrumental in the expansion of the clinic and the wide variety of wellness services that they offer.  She is a certified YogaFit Instructor, PilateFit Instructor and FirstLine Therapy Lifestyle Coach. Understanding that we each have a responsibility to the community that we reside in, Debi has been actively involved in many charitable organizations.  It truly is a passion of hers! She has been involved with and served as a past president of the Cultural Festival, is currently on the Friends Council of WGLT Radio, she was a co-founder of the Nothin But The Blues Festival, and is a current board member on the American Heart Association.  The list of charitable organizations that Debi & Dr. Chris support is a long one!  Philanthropy is important to them and the employees of Eastland Chiropractic & Wellness Center.  Finding ways to volunteer and enhance the lives of others is a goal of hers both professionally and personally.  Debi founded and established The Wellness Foundation which provides a wide variety of community wellness services to businesses and organizations.

In her spare time, Debi enjoys spending time with family and friends, mission trips, reading, cooking and traveling.  She is involved with church activities and her gentle, caring spirit is evident to all.

JOEN - In June of 2005, Joen was excited as she started her position as Office Manager at Eastland Chiropractic & Wellness Center.  “I am able to work because of chiropractic and I am thrilled to be working in the profession.”  Joen’s experience as a patient herself is what led her to know that this career decision was for her.  After being involved in two serious car accidents, Dr. Hoelscher was what “put her back together” and allowed her to recover from injuries that could have left her disabled.

Joen loves being involved in the community and sharing her personal chiropractic experiences with others. She continually expands her knowledge and feels that learning something every day to better serve the patients at Eastland Chiropractic & Wellness Center is very important.  Educating the community about chiropractic and the services that are offered to better their health is her strength.  She genuinely cares and wants the best for everyone she meets.  Being the mother of four boys, Joen’s nurturing attitude is felt by all.  She is lovingly called the “mother hen” at ECWC and truly looks out for the patients and staff as is they were her own.  Being a volunteer at the Home Sweet Home mission for over 13 years has been a rewarding experience for her and one that she treasures.  Her compassion and dedication to reaching out to those in need touches every aspect of her life.  Joen’s hobbies include cooking, decorating, gardening and outdoor activities.  Her church involvement is an important part of her life and her faith is reflected in her loving nature.

Joen is also the coach for many who are experiencing amazing results with the Ideal Protein Weight Management Program.  Joen loves her involvement in this program as she gets to share "first hand" the joy when people meet their weight loss goals and attain a higher quality of health.  As a compassionate, caring soul there is no one better who understands the difficult task of losing weight and changing old habits.  It is her passion to help individuals achieve success with this program.

SAMANTHA  (Patient Coordinator) Samantha started the 2008 New Year off right when she joined the team at Eastland Chiropractic & Wellness Center.  A friend told her about the opportunity and because she had always been amazed with the results that her friend received as a patient at ECWC and it was then that she knew that this was something of which she wanted to be a part of.  “I wake up every day excited to come to work to serve patients and feel honored to be a part of their chiropractic team.  Seeing someone walk in and walk out feeling better is the most rewarding part of my career!”

Born and raised in Arrowsmith, IL, Samantha is no stranger to the community.  After graduating from Ridgeview High School she decided to “spread her wings” and move to Florida where she worked for 15 years in healthcare including home health, pharmacy tech, and geriatric nursing assistant.  Her family ties led her back to Illinois in December of 2007, a move she is glad she made.  Since beginning her position at Eastland Chiropractic & Wellness Center, Samantha has learned a lot about chiropractic.  It “makes sense” to her and it only makes sense that her headaches are gone and she is feeling better since she became a patient herself.  This has put a smile on her face one that she shares with every patient that walks in the doors at Eastland Chiropractic & Wellness Center.  While Samantha enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her black lab, Dodger, the time she really treasures is spent at Eastland with her patients.

JESSICA (Patient Advocate and Community Wellness Liaison)  Having been a chiropractic patient from before the day she was born (ask about that!), she realizes the unique benefits of chiropractic and is currently attending chiropractic college so that she, too, can not only receive those benefits, but deliver them as well.

Although the demands of chiropractic college take up much of her time, the age of internet and her understanding of the world wide web and computers allow her the opportunity to supervise the development and distribution of the patient newsletters via the web and USPS.  Jessica helps out with many of the community services offered at Eastland Chiropractic and Wellness Center, such as Wellness Screenings and community awareness events. More importantly, she continues to stand up for the rights and wishes of patients, allowing us the privilege of continuing to provide what patients desire, the best in wellness care! Her honesty, insight and compassionate nature fits right in at the clinic. She is a passionate individual who is counting the days until she is a licensed chiropractor and can serve patients in the manner she has been brought up in.

HEATHER (Massage Therapist) Heather Koerner learned at an early age that stress can be damaging to the body.  Her early years were spent in and out of hospitals, imbuing a sense of understanding and empathy for folks with pain.  She has spent years learning different techniques to de-stress, relax and enjoy life.  She graduated Bloomington High School in ’98 and worked for a few years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. But she wasn’t satisfied, she knew she could do more for her clients, thus she decided to study massage.

Heather began practicing massage in 2001.  She has her Associates of Arts from Heartland Community College.  She received her state license and national certification in 2005 and her certification for Integrative Reflexology in 2009.  Heather is a proud Member of the American Massage Therapy Association.

Heather’s massage education is focused on pain relief, though her joy is helping people to reestablish the joy of living.  Heather views massage as a holistic approach to pain relief and works with multiple massage techniques to address your unique wellness needs.   Heather is willing to work with your Chiropractor, Physician, Physical Therapist, or other Health Care Provider to make sure that your needs are met and your health goals achieved.

Having been a patient with Eastland Chiropractic and Wellness center sense high school she jumped at the chance to bring her healing hands to the office that has done so much for her in the past.  She works with people with a wide variety of complaints, from back pain and neck pain, to carpal tunnel and Fibromyalgia.  She can vary her massage to fit any number of needs.

TERI (Fitness Instructor) Teri loves to exercise and for more than 20 years she has shared her enthusiasm for exercise and healthy living with people of all ages and fitness levels.  She is passionate about helping others discover their best health and especially enjoys working with clients who are de-conditioned or new to exercise.

Teri provides her clients with insight, knowledge, and inspiration; helping them to develop the capacity to successfully reach their health and wellness goals.

Teri has her M.S in Kinesiology and Recreation from ISU.  She is a Licensed/Certified Wellness Coach, an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, a Cancer Exercise Specialist, an ACE Certified Fitness Instructor, a Certified YogaFit® Instructor, Level I and a Trained Stott Pilates® Instructor.
